Just stick it on, there is no intelligence in the valve itself, the control is derived from the MAP sensor input to the ECU, speed input etc as RED21 says. The output to the valve is then modulated to drive to the desired boost control given by the boost map in the Renix. It just gives you nice smooth boost build without spiking and potential detonation issues... the rest of us like the torque spike changing down gears! The point about loss of torque without it, is only the fact that the AMAL also cuts the pressure feed to the waste gate actuator - hence it doesn't start creeping open at around 4-6psi depending on the strength of the spring and pre-load... keep those gasses doing that spinning thang...
If you love lots of torque boost and have appropriate fuel and ignition control - just put in a mech blocking valve set at +10 psi (ish, set to taste)
